The team of the project “Pearl Necklace of Holy Russia” visited Pskov

In the framework of the second stage of the implementation of the international project of the Smolensk diocese for the development of youth cultural and educational tourism, a project team traveled to the city of Pskov. The project “Pearl Necklace of Holy Russia” is being implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Foundation.

The guys had a task not only to collect informational and photographic materials about the main sights of the Pskov land, but also to shoot video material for a presentation video about Pskov.

Students from the Smolensk Orthodox Theological Seminary are responsible for compiling a tourist case in the city of Pskov. The trip was also attended by students from all other universities - participants.

By decision of the project team, in addition to Pskov, within the framework of the trip, a visit to the ancient Russian city of Izborsk took place, as well as one of the main shrines of Russia - the Holy Dormition Pskovo-Pechersk Monastery.

In Izborsk, the guys inspected the Ancient Stone Fortress and visited “Slovenian Keys”, otherwise called “Keys of the Twelve Apostles”. Then they moved to the city of Pechora, where, with the blessing of Metropolitan of Pskov and Porkhovsky Tikhon, a tour of the monastery was organized for the children. During the three-hour excursion, which was conducted by the monk Serapion, the children not only got acquainted with the churches of the monastery, but also visited God-built caves, the monastery garden, learned about the history of the monastery, about the feats of governors and monastic brethren in preserving the traditions of Russian monasticism (Pskov-Pechersk monastery - the only monastery in Russia where the tradition of eldership never stopped). Also, the guys visited the evening worship and divine liturgy, venerated the shrines and received the blessing of schechiarchimandrite Nikon.

May 29, the project team arrived in the city of Pskov. Smolyan welcomed the head of the pilgrimage service of the Pskov Metropolis “Free wanderer” Yannis Iordanov. For Smolensk was organized a tour of the farmstead of the Pskovo-Pechersky Monastery. The guys also visited the Church of the Holy Blessed Great Prince Alexander Nevsky and received a blessing from the abbot of the Temple, Archpriest Oleg Theor. They learned about the contribution made by Archpriest Oleg and his assistants to the perpetuation of the memory of Russian paratroopers who had fought in hot spots in different years. Then the project team inspected the main sights and shrines of the city of Pskov, including the Pskov Kremlin, Dovmontov city, a monument to St. Equal-to-the-Apostles, Princess Olga, Holy Trinity Cathedral, a monument to the heroes of the book Alexander Two Caverns “Two Captains” and several other attractions.

Despite the pouring rain, the trip gave the project participants a lot of vivid and unforgettable impressions. "Hooray! In fact, the more we travel, the further the excitement departs and a keen desire to tell everyone about which cities are beautiful appears. Pskov was very inspired by his audience. Amazing city! At first, he struck us with his pouring rain, and then with the warmth and genuine interest with which we were met there! ”One of the participants wrote to the project group on social networks.

The trip to the city of Pskov took place with the assistance and active support of Metropolitan of Pskov and Porkhov Tikhon.
